Modality
Method of treatment. Modalities are ways in which medical professionals go about treating a condition. Examples include therapy balls, wheelchairs, walkers, surgery, medication, speech communication devices, or any other modality (Yes, even dogs!) used to assist the patient in healing and becoming more independent.
Specialist
One who concentrates his or her efforts in a specialized activity, field or practice.

Simply stated, we are a “LIVING” treatment modality used in Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and/or Physical Therapy designed to:
- Increase the number of repetitions a patient does
- Increase the amount of time a patient will stay on task
- Increase the desire to try new skills
- Increase independence
- Decrease the amount of fear/resistance in taking the next step
- Decrease the amount of time and difficulty in making trasitions from one activity to another
- Decrease the amount of fear/resistance in taking the next step
- Decrease behavioral issues
As Canine Modality Specialists, our non-profit organization provides interactive canine/patient activities for disabled children and adults. With over 70 learned behaviors, our dogs stir up the will to make that next step towards independence.
